Our Approach

Every research project undertaken at The History Group is unique. Despite similarities between projects that have like objectives, each research initiative requires a distinct plan that takes into consideration all of the potential research variables and locations of documentary evidence. At The History Group, our expertise across a diverse range of information repositories is parallel to none. We are resourceful and determined problem solvers who appreciate complex and challenging research issues.

When new clients contact us to discuss their particular research needs, we arrange for a meeting to ensure that both parties understand the scope and scale of the research required. The scope and scale of research undertaken often depends on the budget that a client is seeking to work within and the type of deliverables that a client is seeking to secure. Some clients contact us seeking hard copies of documents. Other clients require document databases with digitized images. Some clients ask that we provide a brief memorandum of our findings. Other clients request that we provide an extensive historical report. We take our budgets and deliverables very seriously and approach all projects with the same level of determination.

For the majority of clients, we provide the following key deliverables:

  • Research plan that sets out potentially relevant sources, timelines for review and a budget
  • Research methodology that outlines the sources consulted in the course of research
  • Digital and/or Hard Copy Document collection accompanied by a document index
  • Research memorandum or report explaining our findings and recommending further avenues of researcher if applicable

The History Group is particularly adept at providing documentary evidence for litigation and we work with CT Summation to present information to legal clients in a manner that conforms to the rules of producing documents for court. We are meticulous in our handling of documents.
